Time Change

November 01, 2009

Time fell back last night. When I woke enough to read the clock, it said 6:05. I liked that. I got up, fed Travvy, and took a shower, and Travvy and I were out for our morning walk by 6:20. I like that part of returning to standard time.

I don't like it that Morgana V adjusted her clock but didn't see fit to let me know, never mind ask my permission.

I managed to change Uhura Mazda's clock without consulting the manual. To change Uhura's clock, you have to have the radio on, hold the Clock button down, and then use the Seek button to adjust the hour and minute. Tesah Toyota had one button that said H for "hours" and one that said M for "minutes." Changing the time was easy. Why can't Uhura be like that?

By 11 a.m. I'd gotten a lot of writing done. Good on me. Not long after noon, however, the afternoon light started to go west way too soon. I remembered the downside to the morning's feeling of accomplishment: time was running out, better hustle if you want to get everything done before the sun goes down.

Travvy wanted to be fed at 3. I put him off till 3:30 and left him home when I went to the barn shortly thereafter. I got a ride in to Ripley's Field -- saw a lovely rose pink blue and purple sunset behind the trees and windmill as I rode through the field itself. Got home after dark, of course. The clock said 5.

Instead of rushing from barn to home to writers' group, I had time not only to take Travvy for a stroll but to revise and print my piece for the group. That was good.

Now it's 10:50 p.m. and I feel that it's been dark forever.

We're into mid-fall now. Winter's coming.
